Abstract

Nowadays, IGBT modules have already become the main element of power electronic inverter systems, and their reliability is an important factor to guarantee the safe operation of the system. Lifetime prediction is one of the important aspects of evaluating the reliability of IGBT modules. In this paper, we have determined a lifetime prediction model based on the mechanical parameters, one of the lifetime prediction methods for NPT-IGBTs and presented a comparative validation. The lifetime prediction model was designed using ANSYS software and thermal stress analysis was performed to compare the lifetime prediction functions. The IGBT module lifetime prediction method based on the mechanical parameters has demonstrated that the design can be more rational before performing power cycling experiments to ensure the reliability of the device
