Accurate measurement of power loss in induction heating load is very important to accurately evaluate the load characteristics and to improve the stability and reliability of induction heating devices. This paper proposes a practical method for simple and accurate measurement of power loss in induction heating load using damped oscillation in LC series circuit. It is based on the principle that the electric field energy consumption of the capacitor occurring during the transient of the LC series circuit is equal to the power loss in the Thévenin equivalent resistance. The power loss in the induction heating load is calculated by measuring the damped oscillation voltage difference in the capacitor. The verification of the proposed measurement method using MATLAB Simulink is carried out and experimental measurements of power losses at various loads are carried out. The results are reported and discussed.
