Resource Bridge: A Community-Based Digital Resource Sharing Platform

Abstract

Resource scarcity, rising waste generation, and uneven access to essential items continue to challenge communities, particularly in urban and semi-urban areas. Many reusable household items, educational materials, tools, and appliances remain underutilized due to the absence of a structured mechanism to redistribute them to those in need. This project envisions Resource Bridge, a community- driven digital platform developed to enable efficient, safe, and sustainable sharing of reusable resources. The system integrates modern web technologies, cloud storage, and geolocation services to facilitate seamless listing, searching, requesting, and exchanging of items among users. A secure user authentication module ensures verified participation, while item listing features allow donors to upload images, descriptions, and availability details. A geolocation-based discovery eature helps users find nearby resources with ease, minimizing travel time and promoting local engagement. The platform also in corporate an AI-supported matching system that recommends suitable items to recipients based on category, location, and urgency. To enhance trust and reliability, a user credibility mechanism—such as trust scores and transaction history—is included to promote transparent and responsible interactions. By encouraging the reuse of items, preventing waste, and fostering community collaboration, Resource Bridge supports environmental sustainability and circular economy principles. It strengthens social connections, optimizes resource utilization, and provides a structured ecosystem for community-focused sharing.
