Awareness of STEAM Education among Teacher Trainees

Abstract

This study assessed teacher trainees' awareness of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) Education using descriptive survey method. The study examines the conceptual understanding of STEAM and STEAM related integrated curriculum on five point likert scale. The sample included 221 teacher trainees from Lucknow district of Uttar Pradesh. The major findings of the study reflect that teacher trainees have a good level of awareness regarding the STEAM based Education. They understand the importance of interdisciplinary approaches like STEAM in creating a holistic learning environment for students. The majority of trainees are aware of the STEAM goals and its need in implementing it in a practical classroom and how STEAM will foster problem solving skills and innovation among students.
